FAQ
Here are answers to some of the questions asked by our clients. It’s not an exhaustive list, and we would welcome any proposals for additions.
Where do we meet?
Our main consultation/fitting room is on Savile Row in Mayfair, W1. Alternatively a meeting can be arranged at our design studio in Spitalfields, at the edge of the City of London, E1. Also, we may be able to visit you at your place of work. For those of you in different parts of the world, we make trips to the US, Japan, Europe and the UAE.
All fittings and consultations are booked by appointment only.
Are there any limitations on the designs we can request?
Tailoring for Women is proud of its reputation for being able to work in just about any style genre. For more traditional garments, such as a bespoke suits or shooting wear, we are able to add a range of personal touches to fit your tastes. With haute couture however the sky is the limit, and we are happy to work with you to find the right materials, styles and suppliers.
How much will this cost?
This does depend on the complexity of the design and the cost of the materials. We recently completed a garment where the beaded silk fabric and crystal trim cost well in excess of the making price! Therefore we price couture and special commissions on an individual basis.
For fully bespoke, hand-tailored garments 2-pc suits start at £2,300, jackets from £1,600, skirts and trousers from £550, overcoats from £1,900. Styles with a softer structure and less detail may command a lower price depending upon the design.
We request a 50% deposit upon confirmation of order, and the remainder of payment upon delivery. All prices are subject to VAT.
I don’t live in the UK, can I still use your services?
A number of our clients live outside the UK.
The essence of a bespoke service lies in the quality of the relationship we build with our clients, therefore things work best when we are able to meet initially in person. However, after we have created your own personal set of blocks to form the basis of future designs, the process can become simpler. We regularly send garments overseas to our long term clients where the process of design and making has taken place largely by Email.
What about adjustments and aftercare?
Depending upon the materials used, sometimes a finished garment will need to be worn a few times in order to settle on a client’s figure. After this a slight adjustment may be needed. Amendments of this nature are part of the process and therefore included within the original price.
You are welcome to send our garments back for an occasional tune-up! The linings, pockets and buttons will be checked and the items will be freshly pressed, packed and returned to you. It helps if you could have them dry cleaned first!
